Midlothian Family Opportunities Worker

Midlothian Family Opportunities Worker

Who is it for?

This service is for any family with a child under 5 years of age living in Midlothian. We offer support to families struggling with debt, fuel poverty, household budgets, poor housing, clothing poverty, cooking skills, accessing further education, seeking volunteering and work opportunities.

What do we offer?

The Families Opportunities Worker’s role is to provide the household with knowledge, information, motivation and support to access local resources and specialist advice agencies.

Our aim is to enable all household members to take positive steps to improve their situation. In particular, we want to ensure young children are being brought up in an environment where they can thrive.

Our goal is to reduce the number of missed appointments to specialist services such as CAB, Job Centre, housing advice services etc., and to leave a legacy that prevents families entering into crises in the future.

What to expect

This service will be offered to households for a 6-12 month period following which, if required, a second tier of support can be offered by family volunteers.
